SAY IT WIT YA CHEST
The room is the game
HOW SAY IT WIT YA CHEST GAMES STARTEDFunny enough, SAY IT WIT YA CHEST GAMES started way before I ever knew I was creating it.It started with my brother.Growing up, my brother would randomly make up games and make me play them. 😂 There was no game board. No instructions in a box. Half the time, I didn’t even know we were about to play a game until he started asking questions. He’d randomly quote one line from a movie:“What movie is that from? You got 5 seconds.”And suddenly I was under pressure. 😂Or he’d start acting out a scene and I’d have to figure out what TV show it was. He’d make a beat using nothing but his mouth, and somehow I was supposed to know the song. And there was ALWAYS a time limit.5…4…3…2…You better SAY SOMETHING. 😂And if I got it wrong? There was probably some ridiculous consequence he’d already made up.But those games weren’t really about knowing trivia. They were about memory.Could you remember that commercial we had seen 100 times?Could you finish the slogan?Could you recognize a song from three sounds?Could you remember who wore that outfit?Could you look at some random object from Grandma’s house and immediately know exactly what it was?Movies.
TV shows.
Songs.
Commercials.
Slogans.
Fashion.
Food.
Toys.
Random things we grew up seeing every single day.Things we didn’t realize our brains were keeping.Years later, I started thinking about those games again—and about how much fun we had with absolutely nothing. We didn’t need phones. We didn’t need an app.We didn’t need somebody to entertain us.Sometimes all we needed was somebody to say:“I BET YOU DON’T REMEMBER THIS…”And now everybody was playing. That memory made me think about how different being grown feels.Somewhere between work, bills, kids, responsibilities, appointments and just LIFE… we stopped playing. We still go out.We go to dinner.
We go to bars.
We go to parties. But when was the last time a room full of grown people actually PLAYED?Not watched. Not scrolled. Not sat at a table on their phones.PLAYED.That’s when the idea started becoming SAY IT WIT YA CHEST GAMES.I wanted to take that feeling my brother created in our house and make an entire room feel it.I wanted somebody to see an old-school object and yell,“WAIT! I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!”I wanted somebody to hear three seconds of a song and lose their mind.I wanted friends arguing over movie lines.I wanted strangers helping each other remember a commercial from 1994.I wanted somebody yelling an answer from across the room like their entire childhood depended on it. 😂And most importantly, I wanted people to walk into a room as strangers and somehow leave feeling like everybody had been cousins for the last three hours. That’s SAY IT WIT YA CHEST.It’s not really about how much trivia you know. It’s about that feeling when something you haven’t thought about in 20 or 30 years suddenly comes rushing back. The song. The commercial. The cereal. The hairstyle. The movie line. The thing that used to sit in your grandma’s living room. And for a second, you’re not thinking about tomorrow’s responsibilities. You’re just remembering. You’re laughing. You’re talking trash. You’re playing again. My brother thought he was just making up random games to mess with his little sister.Turns out…he was giving me the blueprint. And now I’m bringing the whole room over to play. ❤️SAY IT WIT YA CHEST GAMES
